Self-Introduction of our organization

1. The establishment of the organization and the personnel

NOUMINREN was organized in January 1989.
We have member organizations in all 47 prefectures in Japan and about 50,000 farmers membership.

2. Our activities

The aim of our activities is to establish independent agriculture based family farming in Japan.

In order to achieve this, we promote farmer's movement and developing solidarity with the consumers' and environmental groups.

Our farmers work to supply safe food. We hold symposiums, exchange programs between the cities and the villages, Non- GM food campaign, and so on.

Our Food Research Laboratory works for protecting food security and safety. It can detect residual agricultural chemicals and GMO's from foods and provide specific information and analysis data to people. The government has needed to change the policies sometimes by activities of the laboratory.

We publish a weekly newspaper, a quarterly magazine, and have web site. Through these media, we are promoting our campaign for safe foods, sustainable agriculture and against free trade.

We are carrying out our organization management on the base of democracy according to "action plan" and "agreement" decided in Annual Convention as the highest decision making organ.
